The Murchison wood auction has been running for more than 130 years, benefiting many community groups such as hospitals, churches and schools.

Records show that in 1887 more than £22,000 was made.

This year is significant as it also marks the start of work on the Goulburn Weir which initiated the Goulburn Murray irrigation system.

This was a huge sum of money, even by today's standards, which was used to help establish a local church.

This year's wood auction is for Murchison Preschool and is being organised for 29th of April. This date may change due to weather conditions. The Murchison SES will be proudly supporting the auction by providing labour collecting the wood. As the Preschool is community managed every bit of support helps greatly to keep it open.

If anyone has some wood they would like to donate the Preschool; the SES will be more than happy to come and collect it, so if you have a fallen tree, please contact Hamish Burke on 0415 763 141.

The Murchison Preschool appreciates your support and looks forward to seeing you on the 29th of April, if not before.
